about
This single was born out of frustration and anger. Watching closely as things have become more polarized, I collected each line and stitched it together with a hunger for better.
What have we?
We have our work taking from our bones while we try keeping our humanity. We’re pitted against one another as we desperately devour the scraps and yet we’re encouraged to feel lucky. Lucky in the choice of what we have to consume, lucky we’re not one of the inconceivably many who have less, lucky in vast forms of escapisms provided to keep us subdued. We’re encouraged to worship our products as everything around us is commodified and then heavily pushed back on us for consumption. It’s difficult to fight off complacency as slight variations of the same message is forced on us; be grateful for what we have, don’t expect more and most importantly don’t change a thing.
lyrics
Verse 1:
Gonna take it, Gonna take it
From my bones yeah, from my bones yeah
We’re all in heated agreement
That nothing is permanently ours
Verse 2:
Gonna keep it, gonna keep it
My name clean, my name clean
While the law of profit
Brings self-interest through the door
Chorus:
Left to worship in a new way
To fill the time between the working day
They assume to be our champions
Yet when our time is over,
They wait, with both hands,
Taking what we have made
What have we made?
Verse 3:
what do I know now, do I know now?
That’s the question, is the question
I gotta sharpen these tools
While it gets sharply polarized
Chorus:
Left to worship in a new way
To fill the time between the working day
They assume to be our champions
Yet when our time is over,
They wait, with both hands,
Taking what we have made
What have we made?
Have we?
What have we made?
Have we?
What have we made?
Bridge:
Come gather around,
My armoured saviours
Which way should I run,
To keep calm through the fire?
They give us more time,
To practice their aim
Cause the sickness they caught,
Is societies gain
What have we made?
Have we?
What have we made?
Have we made?
Outro:
What have we?
That’s it

She has been fortunate enough to support a wealth of Irish
talent including Wallis Bird, Mick Pyro (Republic Of Loose), Cathy Davey and Neil Hannon (Divine Comedy).
She seeks her lyrical inspiration in the world around her and seeks solitude from that world in the music she creates.
