about
During a particularly bad slump with inspiration, a dry patch in creativity, and even a lull in passion, I got some emergency tax back. Though I was a struggling student at the time I decided to head off and explore the beautiful city of Rome. I brought a paper and paper for company and this song is the result of that trip.
lyrics
Verse 1
Word splash, colours all mismatched
Boomed highest from walls, wrapped tightly around trains
5000 windows stretched out with old age
Forms a slice of must see, steels pictures just for me
Chorus
Felt your shadow close, so close it touched my heels
And I will hold my tongue, I won’t speak of olden days
I won’t speak of olden days, aah aah ooh x2
Mmm
Verse 2
Carvings curved, held high on teal thrones
Heads of hope watching crowds grow, bring wishes my knee
I knew you were waiting, for the heat of the night
To strengthen my bones, when I was most alone
Chorus
Felt your shadow close, so close it touched my heels
And I will hold my tongue, I won’t speak of olden days
I won’t speak of olden days, who are you kidding now?
Bridge
Who are you kidding, trynna sell new land to your heart?
Trynna sell new land to you heart
I will hold my tongue, I will hold my tongue
Won’t speak of olden days, won’t speak of olden days
Felt your shadow close, so close it touched my heels
And I will hold my tongue, I won’t speak of olden days
I won’t speak of olden days aah aah ooh x2
