During a particularly bad slump with inspiration, a dry patch in creativity, and even a lull in passion, I got some emergency tax back. Though I was a struggling student at the time I decided to head off and explore the beautiful city of Rome. I brought a paper and paper for company and this song is the result of that trip.

The evidence of the cities former empire is scattered on every street corner in the form of beautiful ruins. In a strange way, it gave me hope. Those living during that time must have seen the world as I do now, struggling to imagine the end of all they’ve ever known.
The contenders for having the biggest impact in your life feel like they will go on forever. Whether it’s the person you share you bed with, the society that determines the world around you, a pandemic or a great empire, nothing lasts.
