about

There is a scale of consciousness of how much we understand what is going on around us in society
and most importantly, why it’s happening. Living our lives in ignorance leaves us far from bliss,
victim to reactions and doomed to repeat them.
Similarly, the more you know about the intrinsic details of the failings and injustice that we’re
surrounded by, the harder it can be to face it all.
I wrote this song from a collection of moments that lead me to believe that whether you’re stuck in
the dark or forever gathering evidence on this brutal system that is capitalism, it’s never easy.
It’s difficult seeing people close to me panic in the growing awareness that they have little power
over what happens in their life. Their job, their living situation, their cost of living, all a reminder that
we are at the mercy of things we have no say in.
It’s disgusting seeing strangers in survival mode curl up beside you on a bench trying to get some
sleep in before the struggle of the night begins.
None of it is easy, nor ideal. It’s disheartening, but not hopeless. There are answers. There are
people who know them. We need to keep trying to get them.

lyrics

I’m Sorry

Verse 1
I’m sorry if this world it rumbles
Incomprehensible and cold
I’m sorry if you’re only mining
The distraction from the gold

Verse 2
I’m sorry if you’re only filling
Pockets from the bottom up
I’m sorry if ingrained are ideals
Worthy not the test of time

Chorus
I’m sorry if you’ll never know it
The imitation from the real
I’m sorry if it’s left you empty
What little else is there to feel?
Verse 3
I’m sorry if I’ve known my comfort
Sitting next to your despair
I’m sorry if your arm it cradles
Your head while wood it spears your hip

Chorus
I’m sorry if you’ve ever known it
I’m sorry no one seems to care
I’m sorry but we’re all distracted
To shout complaints into the air
I’m sorry if you’ve ever seen it,
Hanging high above the roots
So few of us will make it,
Our heads forever in the noose
Verse 4
Well among the people lie the cadre
Who’d like to tell your fortune true
That the lands your know are drowning
For the dog that eats his own

Verse 5
He keeps us simple, keeps us blinded
While he sniffs around our door
Waiting for the chance to profit
From the weakest and the poor

Chorus
I’m sorry if you’ve seen it coming,
It’s a weight so few can bare
I’m sorry that we’re all distracted
To shout complaints into the air
I’m sorry if you’ve ever seen it,
Hanging high above the roots
So few of us will make it,
Our heads forever in the noose
